Girl Scout Troop 1704 organized a canned food drive for Joplin, Mo. The girls did a variety of activities to gather canned foods.
They invited First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit and Girl Scout troops from other service units to participate, went door to door and asked Hy-Vee shoppers to donate food. American Food Service connected the girls with wrap to protect the food from the weather while traveling to Joplin.
The troop also received help from Girl Scout Troop 3413 to take the food to Joplin.
The Girl Scouts were able to collect more than 4000 cans of food to help Joplin.
