Troop 1262 Honors Eagle Scout Ben Thomas

On Sunday, June 3, 2012, Troop 1262 in Lees Summit, Missouri held an Eagle Court of Honor to recognize Ben Thomas.
Benjamin L. Thomas, 18, is the son of Tom and Rebecca Thomas. He was
born on February 24, 1994. He has been involved in scouting since first
grade, starting as a Tiger Cub in Pack 4262. He progressed through the
ranks of the Pack, earning his Arrow of Light as a Webelos before
joining Troop 1262 in 5th grade in 2005. Ben attended Bartle Scout Camp
2005 – 2010 and is Firebuilder Son of Strong Foundation in the Tribe of
Mic-O-Say, taking after his father’s name. In 2010, Ben was a Crew
Leader on the Troop’s trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New
Mexico.
Ben’s Eagle Project involved working with conservation
agents at James A. Reed Wildlife Preserve. Ben’s project entailed
designing and constructing bird habitats to help the Wildlife Preserve
study and locate local Screech Owls. On February 19, 2012, Ben became an
Eagle Scout. Ben is the first Eagle Scout in his family. Ben
graduated from Lee’s Summit West High School 2012. Ben was involved with
the high school’s music program participating in Choir and Band. Ben
also played tennis and club lacrosse at the high school. Ben enjoys
Scouting, sports, camping, fishing, and disc golf. Scouting has offered
him many skills and leadership opportunities that he would not have
enjoyed had he not been in the Scouting program.
