Troop 1262 Honors Eagle Scout Jason Nickles
June 9, 2012
On Sunday, June 3, 2012, Troop 1262 in Lees Summit, Missouri held an Eagle Court of Honor to recognize Jason Nickles.
Jason Lee Nickles, 18, was born January 16, 1994. His parents Kevin
Nickles, and Jim and Leanne Barry all helped in raising him. Jason moved
from Raytown to Greenwood in 1998. Jason attended Greenwood Elementary
for 7 years. He was involved in choir and band throughout elementary and
middle school. Jason attended and graduated from Lee’s Summit West High
School. Jason was a part of the Titan Pride Marching Band all 4 years
of high school. Jason was also on the Titan Tennis team for 3 years.
Jason
got involved in Scouting after seeing the Scouts at elementary school
during enrollment. Jason first started as a Bear. He attended Webelos
camp for two years.
Jason crossed over into Boy Scout Troop 1262
in 2005 with 6 other Scouts. Jason attended Boy Scout Camp for 6 years.
Jason is a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow and Fire Builder
Grandson of Murmuring Oak in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Jason’s Eagle
Project benefited James A Reed Memorial Wildlife Area. He led a team of
Scouts and adults to build habitats for wood ducks. On January 15, 2012,
he became an Eagle Scout and joined the ranks of those who have earned
it before him including his Eagle Scout grandfather, Paul Morris Walker.
Jason
is attending the University of Missouri Columbia in the fall. He plans
on majoring in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology. Jason would like to thank
his parents and all of the leaders and Scouts who have befriended and
helped him to achieve his Eagle Award.
