The community is cordially invited to the 19th Annual Mayor’s Character Breakfast on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023 from 7 to 9 a.m. at The Pavilion at John Knox. Food service begins at 6:45 a.m.

This event celebrates local citizens demonstrating the strength of character in their daily lives.

Presented by Lee’s Summit CARES, this event highlights individuals who demonstrate and exemplify character traits such as perseverance, kindness, generosity, courage and cooperation.

The keynote speaker, Cam F. Awesome, is an Emmy-nominated, six-time USA National Champion, four-time Golden Gloves National Champion, three-time Olympic Trials Champion Heavyweight boxer, and former Captain of the USA National boxing team. His Olympic journey was one of the stories featured in the 2017 NETFLIX original documentary, CounterPunch. He travels the country in his current role as a motivational speaker, diversity consultant, and event emcee. He has emceed charity events, festivals, award shows, and galas. He has also performed as a comic on stage at venues like Funny Bone, Laugh Factory, and Hyenas.
