The Raytown Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism is asking for nominations for Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year along with Non-Profit of the Year and the Rising Star Award.

The following are the critieria for each business category:

Business of the Year
▪ Over 26 employees
▪ Must have directed his/her company to significant growth.
▪ Contributed to the betterment of the community and to the goals of the Chamber.
▪ Must be a member in good standing of the Chamber for at least one year.
▪ Major consideration given to the individual’s contribution to the economic development of the Raytown area.
▪ In business for a minimum of 3 years
▪ Civic contributions should be considered only as a tiebreaker.

Small Business of the Year
▪ Less than 25 employees
▪ Must have directed his/her company to significant growth.
▪ Contributed to the betterment of the community and to the goals of the Chamber.
▪ Must be a member in good standing of the Chamber for at least one year.
▪ Major consideration given to the individual’s contribution to the economic development of the Raytown area.
▪ In business for a minimum of 3 years
▪ Civic contributions should be considered only as a tiebreaker.

Non-Profit of the Year

  • Must be a 501 c 3 organization.
  • Must have been in operation for at least 5 years.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the Raytown Area Chamber of Commerce
  • This award recognizes a community organization that has made a significant contribution to the overall health and livability of the Raytown area. The winning organization makes a significant impact that improves the economic, medical, educational, or financial health of individuals in our community; impacts people through enabling and empowering individuals to improve their knowledge and skills toward greater quality of life; benefits the underserved, underrepresented or disaffected members of the community, including children, seniors, and those in poverty; and has high quality treatment of employees and members of the public.

Rising Star Award

  • This award will be given to an individual who is employed by a Raytown Chamber member in good standing.
  • They must be a rising star within the business.
  • The individual must also donate some of their time to volunteerism.
  • This individual must be 35 years of age or younger.

Companies may nominate themselves and, if they have a “Rising Star” within their business, nominate them. The deadline to send in a nomination is Friday, November 15. Previous winners from the past five years are not eligible. To see if a business has already won or if they are a current Chamber member, contact the Chamber.
