Established in 1991 by the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce and MCC-Longview, Leadership Lee’s Summit was developed to motivate the visionary leaders of the area. Participants acquire knowledge and skills to become great leaders in the community through this intensive nine-month program.

The Chamber selects 30 participants per year using strict criteria, including:

• Motivation and interest to serve in Lee’s Summit.
• Potential or existing opportunities for advancement to top leadership positions.
• Willingness to commit time and energy to complete the program.
• Full support of the corporation/organization that is represented.

Participants attend day-long sessions throughout the year focused on leadership skills, business and government issues, and the history and culture of Lee’s Summit.

Leadership Lee’s Summit aims to bolster the participants’ confidence, knowledge, leadership, and interpersonal skills so they can become distinguished members of the community. Meetings for Leadership Lee’s Summit take place from September through May on the second Tuesday of every month.
