Losing a child is every parent’s worst nightmare. Lisa Lopez-Galvin, the daughter of Heriberto and Ana Margot Lopez, passed away as a result of injuries sustained at last year’s Super Bowl Parade. She will never be forgotten by her family or the citizens of Kansas City who were devastated by this tragic loss amid what was meant to be a community-wide celebration.
Alison’s Angels will honor the Lisa Lopez-Galvan family with its Legacy Gift, a newly created outreach for families who have lost a child, for any reason at any age. The Legacy Gift can be used by the family at their discretion to further the legacy of Lopez-Galvin within their family, the community or among other families that have suffered the loss of a child. The gift will be presented to the family at the second-annual Alison Angels annual golf tournament, Mon., Oct. 7, at Lakewood Oaks Country Club in Lee’s Summit.
Alison’s Angels’ mission is to provide parents and families who are grieving the recent loss of a child with emotional support and resources to help them cope when the unthinkable happens.
The goal of Alison’s Angels is to share the stories of other parents and the paths they followed in their grief journey. No two situations are the same, and yet, there is comfort in knowing how others sustained themselves in their darkest moments.
Sharing our stories helps us connect and may help us navigate this difficult road from the moment of death, through the funeral process, to eventually, a place of purpose. To that end, Alison’s Angels is releasing a book this fall titled, “Whispers of Hope: Navigating the Uncharted Path of Parental Grief.”
The public is invited to honor the legacy of Lopez-Galvin, along with her family, at the golf tournament. Meet family members, attend the post-play banquet to hear their inspirational stories or donate to Alison’s Angels.
