The iBuild Showcase, presented by the National Institute for Construction Excellence (NICE), returned to Bartle Hall on April 28. This annual event provides middle and high schools students from across the region with a meaningful, hands-on introduction to careers in construction and related industries and information about post-secondary education opportunities. There were exhibits with bricklaying, welding, roofing, carpentry, electricity and more. Thousands of students from across the Greater Kansas City metro, including several from Lee’s Summit North were on hand this year’s event.

The event offers students the opportunity to meet face-to-face with area tradesmen and tradeswomen, contractors, and utilities to try their hand at dozens of hands-on, real-world challenges and learn about post-secondary programs at local community colleges, universities, and apprenticeships with area trades.

The National Institute for Construction Excellence (NICE) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization established in 1998 by members of the Kansas City design and construction industry to introduce young people, parents, and educators to the broad array of career opportunities available in the fields of engineering, architecture, construction management and the skilled trades.
