Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, our community receives protection, care and support from thousands of loyal men and women. The owners of IBD Promotions who manage Oktoberfest Art & Craft Show at the Pavilion at John Knox Village will be collecting donations for Answering the Call at the upcoming show. Vendors and attendees will have the opportunity to show their support for local fire fighters, police, and emergency medical service personnel. Staff from Answering the Call and emergency personnel will have a table near the stage to answer questions on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10:00 to 3:00 PM.
Answering the Call is a 501(c)(3), founded by Ronnie Doumitt of Lee’s Summit, in 2015 to support first responders and their families during a time of need, such as following injury, illness or death. They offer financial aid and connections to other support organizations. Visit their website at atc911.org or their Facebook page @answeringthecall911.
It is easy to forget about the importance of first responders, but when disaster hits, we are thankful that they are there to help. Wanda Davenport, co-owner of IBD Promotions, and her two children were blessed to escape a home fire in 1982 and receive help and kindness from emergency personnel. Wanda said, “Everyone has probably had an experience that has changed their life. We just want to give back to the brave individuals who have a significant impact in our community.”
Oktoberfest Art & Craft Show is inside the Pavilion at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit on October 4th & 5th. Keith and Wanda Davenport are the new promoters of this event, and when asked about the show, Keith said, “Our goal is twofold: 1) provide an outlet for the artists and crafters to sell their one-of-a-kind creations in an environment that is friendly, happy, and festive, and 2) to provide support for non-profit charities that have a special meaning to us.”
The Pavilion at John Knox Village is located at 520 NW Murray Road, Lee’s Summit, MO. The show hours are Friday, October 4th from 11:00 to 7:00 and Saturday, October 5th from 10:00 to 4:00. Please support Answering the Call 911 by attending.
