Lee’s Summit Fire Department
The Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 9:37 p.m. on Jan. 13, 2025, in the 300 block of Southeast Green Street. A caller reported issues with an electric breaker panel and the odor of smoke in the home. The resident was in the process of evacuating as smoke alarms sounded.
When firefighters arrived, they observed smoke coming from the attic of a one-story, single-family residence. The occupant and their dog were safely outside.
Firefighters entered the home and opened the ceiling to extinguish the fire in the attic. A search confirmed that all residents had evacuated, while crews worked to ensure the fire had not spread beyond its area of origin in the attic above the bedroom. The fire was under control by 10:06 p.m.
Damage was primarily confined to the attic, with minimal smoke damage noted in the living areas. The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical in origin.
