The City of Lee’s Summit is pleased to announce the appointment of Diana Newman as director of information technology.
Newman begins her position on Jan. 6, where she will provide overall management, control and direction for the Information Technology Division. Newman will lead a staff of 33 professionals and oversee a budget of approximately $6 million.
Newman brings more than 30 years of experience providing informational technology and strategic leadership in both the private and public sectors, most recently serving as project manager for the City of Lee’s Summit’s Information Technology Division since August of 2023. In that role, Newman was responsible for leading the replacement of the City’s Enterprise Resource Planning Software, a complex project with a significant impact on the productivity and resiliency of the organization.
Prior to joining the City, Newman held positions including team leader and program manager with Olsson and vice president business processes for Perfect Output. She managed teams, multimillion-dollar budgets, product development, software services programs and technology solutions for many industries including government, technology, utilities, manufacturing and consulting.
“This is an exciting time for the City, with major network and technology infrastructure investments and capital improvements taking shape. Diana’s experience and collaborative approach to work will be a tremendous addition to the City as we address these opportunities and complex issues,” said Assistant City Manager Donna Lake. “Diana’s proven track record of success, coupled with her strong analytical skills and strategic vision, give me great confidence in her ability to lead the Information Technology Division and our City towards a future of enhanced security, improved connectivity and responsible technology utilization.”
