The City of Raytown announces the appointment of Toni Alexander, an experienced marketing and public relations professional, as the city’s new Public Information Officer (PIO). She started her new role on April 12.

As the PIO, Alexander is responsible for managing, planning, organizing, and directing the city’s information and communications programs. To ensure a positive public image of the city and the timely provision of information to citizens, Alexander will also serve as a liaison between the city, public, and media according to the standards of the city.

“Toni’s extensive experience, aptitude, and community ties make her an excellent fit for this position,” said City Administrator Damon Hodges. “We are excited to have Toni join our dedicated team here at the City of Raytown. Keeping the community informed and engaged is core to our mission in serving the Raytown residents.”

Alexander offers more than 20 years of experience in public relations and has worked in various industries and cities. She most recently served nearly a decade as communications manager at Visit KC.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Missouri. A Kansas City native and Raytown resident, Alexander is active in the community. She volunteers with Hope Faith-Homeless Assistance Campus, Metro Lutheran ministries and The Animal Rescue Alliance, an all-volunteer organization dedicated to finding forever homes for homeless pets in the metro. She has also served on the following boards and committees: Greater Kansas City Attractions Association, the Public Relations Society of America Greater Kansas City Chapter, Midwest Travel Journalists Association, and Friendship House/Catherine’s Place.
