The Lee’s Summit Arts Council is inviting the community to attend the State of the Arts reception on Oct. 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Aspen Room at The Stanley, 308 SE Douglas St.
The State of the Arts is an opportunity to recognize the arts and cultural leaders who make a positive impact on the Lee’s Summit community. Cultural Arts Grant recipients will be honored for their work and one local artist will be presented the Arts Leadership Award for exemplifying the highest level of artistic excellence in the community.
“This is quickly becoming the Arts Council’s signature annual event,” said Cultural Arts Manager Glenda Masters. “The Arts Council is committed to showcasing our City’s talented arts organizations, artists and performers and the State of the Arts reception is a great way to share these success stories with the greater community.”
During the reception, guests will enjoy an interactive art display and live painting by Jaime Lyon of INJOY; a visual art exhibit by Barbara Neth; a poetry reading by Hubert Neth; and live music performed by members of the Lee’s Summit Symphony. The event is free to attend and open to the public. Due to limited seating, attendees should RSVP at bit.ly/LSSOTA2019 before Oct. 8.
The Lee’s Summit Arts Council is a volunteer citizen board for the City of Lee’s Summit, which was established in 2002. Its goal is to work with the City and the community to strengthen the cultural vibrancy of Lee’s Summit.
