Core Balance Yoga Center first came on the local yoga scene in January, 2010 in the Lakewood area. Owner, Leah Morgan, had recently sold her previous studio and was excited to launch her new vision for the area.

Eight years later, their second location, Core Balance Yoga Center in the Raintree area, opened to serve the southern part of town. Sadly, small, boutique type fitness and yoga oriented studios were among the hardest hit businesses when the COVID19 pandemic began. Restrictions due to social distancing and shut downs decimated many small businesses. During this time, Leah made the difficult decision to close the Raintree location, in an effort to have her remaining location survive. In the meantime, Leah and her team of yoga teachers made the decision to pivot and offer classes live via Zoom. This helped yoga students maintain their yoga practice and stay connected with the community that has become valuable to so many people.

More than a year after the pandemic started, Core Balance’s Lakewood lease was expiring and, thinking of all of their students from the South studio, as well as their long-time North students, Leah made a decision to seek a new location, right in the center of town, in order to serve ALL their yoga students. Leah said “Leaving our South location was one of the toughest decisions we have had to make. We are thrilled to now be able to offer yoga in a centrally located studio that can work for ALL of our students!” In addition to a move, Core Balance Yoga also rebranded with a fresh look. The new space is light and airy, open and inviting. One of the best features of their new studio is a very large, private outdoor green space so they can practice yoga outdoors when weather permits. They are now located at 905 SE Langsford Road, next to HyVee, directly behind Big Lots.

Core Balance Yoga Center prides themselves on not just ‘leading’ yoga classes, but TEACHING yoga so students learn how to practice safely and correctly. Beginners to advanced students are welcome there. Students who are healing from injuries can also feel confident, knowing all of the highly trained teachers can teach them how to practice to honor injuries. New students can try out 21 consecutive days of yoga for only $49.
