The 45th Annual William Jewell Holiday Classic tips off this on Friday, Dec. 27 with 18 teams competing in a four-day event ending on Monday, Dec. 30. On the campus of William Jewell College in Liberty, MO among the teams competing is Summit Christian Academy and St. Michael’s.

The Summit Christian Eagles Boys basketball team enters the William Jewell tourney with a 5-1 mark. The Eagles open up against the Grandview Bulldogs on Friday morning Dec. 27 at 9 a.m. With a win the Eagles return to the court on Sunday Dec. 29 at 9 p.m., with a loss the Eagles play again at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28.

The St. Michael’s Guardians boys basketball team enters the William Jewell Tourney with a mark of 3-5. The Guardians open up play against Lincoln Prep on Friday, Dec. 27 at 9 p.m. With a win the Guardians play the Raytown/Center winner at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29. With an opening round loss the Guardians return to the court on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 1:30 p.m.

The LS West Titans girls basketball team played in the 12 Courts of Christmas event on December 19. Now the Titans Boys basketball team will play a game in the event on Monday, Dec. 30 at 11:45 a.m. The Titans play Moore, OK. Games are played at Hy-Vee Arena in Downtown Kansas City.

Lee’s Summit Tigers football player Brock Gorday was selected to participate in the annual Hawaii Tiki-Bowl game. The event gives high school seniors one last high school football game to play. The game and events took place in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Post-season honors were given out for All District and All State high school football players. The Lee’s Summit Tigers finished with nine selections chosen to be All District. Five players were named All State in Class 6.

Lee’s Summit North Football was recognized when Cirron Harrison was named the Suburban Gold Conference Defensive Player of the Year. The Broncos won the Gold Conference title this past season.

The college football bowl game season is underway and one game, the Arizona Bowl, will feature a former LS North Bronco as Keyon Mozee and his Miami (Ohio) Redhawks play Colorado State. The game will be played on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 4:30 p.m. CT.
