Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street (DLSMS), a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization and historic preservation of Downtown Lee’s Summit, recently welcomed Whitney Dunbar to serve as the new Assistant Director.
“We are excited to welcome Whitney Dunbar to the Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street team. Whitney’s passion for helping others succeed and her ability to build lasting connections with people make her the perfect fit for Downtown Lee’s Summit,” stated Donnie Rodgers, Executive Director.
Whitney Dunbar graduated from Missouri Southern State University in 2014 with a BSBA in Marketing & Management and began work in the Office of Admissions as an Admissions Counselor and Publications Coordinator for the university. After earning a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from MSSU in 2018, Whitney relocated to Lee’s Summit and was promoted to the Senior Coordinator of Regional Recruitment for the Kansas City metro. While at Missouri Southern, Whitney created publications, oversaw marketing campaigns, and organized 100 recruitment events each semester. Whitney expanded her network, hiring and supervising additional recruiters from Tulsa to Chicago.
In 2018, Whitney joined the Promotions Committee and began volunteering with Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street. From packaging t-shirts for Ladies Night Out to collecting donations at the Chocolate Crawl for a Cause, Whitney jumped right in to help with any task, big or small. Her friendly, approachable personality will be an asset when building relationships with community partners. As Assistant Director, Whitney will provide key leadership in fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and management of the Downtown Lee’s Summit Farmers Market.
Whitney and her husband Aaron reside in Blue Springs with their daughter, Quinn, and are excited to foster connections with the Downtown merchants and community members.
