It is time to recycle all those broken and outdated electronics that you have found as you deep cleaned your home over the last few months. On Saturday, September 12th from 9:00 until noon, the parking lot of Lake Lotawana Community United Methodist Church (LLCUMC) will be transformed into an Electronics and Metals Recycling Event for you to drop off your unwanted items from your home to be recycled.

Items being collected include anything with a cord or battery, including computers, TVs, printers, monitors, audio equipment, cameras, microwaves, coffee pots, large and small appliances, car/boat batteries, and much more. Bring your items to the parking lot, located at the corner of 28901 Colbern Road and Gate 1 at Lake Lotawana. The event is open to everyone and is free, except for a fee on TVs, CRT computer monitors, and items with Freon.

LLCUMC has partnered with MRC – Midwest Recycling Center for this event because the company has the national R2/RIOS certification for recycling. This certification assures us that the materials will be recycled in a responsible manner. Also, MRC has a “zero landfill” policy for everything except for the wood from console TVs.

Recycling in a responsible manner is expensive, and the recovered materials do not cover the costs for the harder to recycle electronics. Because of this, fees of $5 for each CRT computer monitor and between $20 – $50 for each TV, will be collected. A $10 fee will be collected for each item with Freon. Cash and checks will be accepted. Recycling of everything else will be free.

Due to extra safety precautions for you and the workers, please wear a mask and remain in your vehicle while workers unload your items.
