The City of Lee’s Summit is hosting an exhibit at City Hall featuring 15 regional juried members from Best of Missouri Hands now through May 24. The exhibit showcases a dynamic range of 2D and 3D artwork including glass sculptures, fine art jewelry, photography, metalsmithing and woodworking as well as oil and acrylic paintings. This exhibit was developed to demonstrate the creativity and diversity of the artists and artisans of Missouri.

Best of Missouri Hands is a statewide association dedicated to the advancement and recognition of visual artists and artisans. Best of Missouri Hands created “On the Road: A Regional Exhibit Showcasing Best of Missouri Hands Members” with the support of a grant from the Missouri Arts Council. This funding makes it possible for the organization to grow its audience and membership by exhibiting member artwork in new communities across the state.

“We are excited to collaborate with Best of Missouri Hands on this exhibit,” said Glenda Masters, cultural arts manager for the City of Lee’s Summit. “By working with Best of Missouri Hands, this touring exhibit is a way for us to recognize the exceptional talent and workmanship of several artists simultaneously.”

There will be two opportunities to meet the artists during the exhibit. An opening reception will take place April 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The closing reception will be May 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Both receptions will be in the lobby of Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green St., and take place during the Fourth Fridays Art Walks in downtown Lee’s Summit.
