Galen Lee Oden, 86, of Grandview, MO passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Galen was born on August 23, 1938, in his grandparents’ home in Holton, KS to Leslie and Helen Oden. By 1949, Galen and his family moved and settled in Kansas City, MO. Galen graduated from Center High School in 1957. Galen was very active in the Boy Scouts and achieved his Eagle Scout. He was also a Runner in the Tribe of Micosay. Galen received his Associates of Art Degree while in the Air Force. He spent 28 years in the military and retired as a Master Seargent in Mobility Support. He later worked for Hallmark Cards and retired after more than 30 years’ service.

Galen is survived by his wife of 64 years Kathryn Oden, his sister Wanda Norton, his children, Gayle Powell, Marianne Giles and her husband David, James Oden and his wife Kimberly, Patricia Hatfield and her husband Tony, and Christopher Oden. He had sixteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, a great great grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

Galen is preceded in death by Leslie and Helen Marie Oden, James and Lucille Murray, Hugh and Menerva Oden, and Bill Hallaur and Elsie Cannon-Hallaur.

The visitation will be Wednesday June 11, 2025, at the Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, MO from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Graveside service will be held at Holton Cemetery in Holton, KS on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 1:00 pm.
