Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium: The popular GloWild lantern festival returns to the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium this fall with a brand-new theme and displays. In its fourth year, this unique and immersive nighttime experience allows guests to adventure through massive, handcrafted artworks on display at the Zoo. This year’s event features a journey through time to nineteenth-century Paris, the American centennial, a sci-fi themed trip to the future, and much more.

GloWild: Time Traveler presented by Saint Luke’s will illuminate the Zoo with detailed lighted sculptures, including a few that can be walked through and others that have moving parts. The lanterns will be spread along a 1-mile route through the Zoo from September 5 to December 28.
The Zoo’s lantern partner, LEKTRIK ART, used over 34 tons of steel and nearly 89,000 feet of silk-like fabric to create the spectacular works that guests will see, and it’s all been handcrafted by more than 150 artisans. Guests will walk a one-way path through the displays with opportunities to stop to enjoy photo opportunities, concessions, shopping, and entertainment. This year, guests can also visit Sobela Ocean Aquarium on Wednesday evenings with admission to GloWild. Due to the nighttime hours of the event, other animals are not available.

Special fall-themed lanterns are returning this year that can only be seen from September 5 to October 31. Fall activities like pumpkin decorating, pedal tractors, games, and entertainment are also included with admission. Santa will be returning November 1 to December 28 to greet guests with holiday-themed lanterns and holiday activities. Guests will want to visit multiple times to enjoy GloWild in both autumn and winter to experience all it has to offer.
