Changes are unfolding this year for local students applying for educational support from the Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation 2023 scholarship program.

GLSHF Vice Chair Lynette Wheeler said, “This year we have implemented a new rubric tool that will allow our applicants to provide more detailed information to share with the GLSHF Scholarship Committee. We have included a video portion for the applicant to share their ‘why’ for choosing their chosen healthcare profession and their long-term plans after graduation.”

Multiple scholarships will be awarded to local students pursuing careers in the healthcare field who are enrolled in accredited college or university programs. Past scholarship awardees are eligible to re-apply for the 2023 GLSHF scholarships.

“GLSHF is proud to be celebrating 20 years of service this year,” said Patrick Kueny, Chair of the Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation. “We’re inspired by the talent and determination of so many local students who are dedicated to making a positive impact on good health. The GLSHF scholarship program is an important way for us to support this next generation of healthcare professionals.”

The GLSHF scholarship program offers individual awards of up to $8,000. Applications will be accepted until the deadline on March 1. Recipients are honored in July at the annual scholarship celebration.

The Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2023. GLSHF is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the Lee’s Summit community. The Foundation supports wellness through grants to local nonprofits and through scholarships to local students. The annual deadline for scholarship applications is March 1st. The annual deadline for grant applications is October 31.
