The humble Hawaiian Plate Lunch, a comfort-food fusion of succulent, savory meat and hearty island side dishes, is making its Lee’s Summit debut at Hawaiian Bros. The restaurant is located at 304 SE Missouri 291 Hwy and will open to the public June 23rd.
The Kansas City-based concept has three other Kansas City area locations, as well as one in Lawrence, Kansas, and one in Austin, Texas.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Lee’s Summit into the Hawaiian Bros ‘ohana,’” said Cameron McNie, who co-owns the concept with his brother Tyler. “We’re looking forward to being part of this terrific community.
The Grand Opening will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23 at the Lee’s Summit restaurant.
The Hawaiian Bros menu centers around fresh, flavorful meats, like slow-roasted pulled pork and marinated teriyaki chicken, along with traditional side dishes such as jasmine rice and tangy macaroni salad. Owners and brothers Cameron and Tyler McNie have been preparing traditional Hawaiian cuisine for decades, including such Hawaiian favorites as seared Spam glazed in teriyaki sauce and wrapped in dried seaweed. The owners hope to make the Hawaiian Plate Lunch, which is priced at under $10, just as revered and loved on the mainland as it is on the islands.
“For us, the Hawaiian Plate Lunch is about more than bringing fresh island flavors inland,” said Cameron. “It’s about what the Hawaiian Plate Lunch represents — a mix of people and cultures coming together to share a meal.”
Leading up to the Grand Opening, Hawaiian Bros will host three events at the newest location, honoring Lee’s Summit area teachers, veterans and first responders with free meals. Details are on the Hawaiian Bros Lee’s Summit Facebook page.
“Our mission is to treat everyone like family or Ohana,” said McNie. “And we look forward to expanding our Lee’s Summit Ohana one meal at a time.”
Hawaiian Bros is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Order online at www.hawaiianbros.com
