The post-season has arrived for girls soccer teams in the state of Missouri which means all five Lee’s Summit teams will be busy this week. District tournaments for each will be played at various sites between May 14th and May 19th.

The Class 4, District 7 tournament begins with a busy day at Lee’s Summit West on Saturday, May 14. The action gets started with LS North playing Ray-Pec in a fourth vs fifth seeded game at 11 a.m. That will be followed by St. Teresa’s vs Notre Dame De Sion at 1 p.m. Then it’s time for the second seeded Lee’s Summit Tigers to play seventh seed Belton at 3 p.m. The long day ends with top seed and host LS West Titans playing eight seeded Raytown at 5 p.m. A pair of semi-final games at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. is set for May 17. The title game will be played at 6:30 p.m. on the night of Thursday, May 19.

The Lee’s Summit Tigers enter the post season following a 3-0 shutout win on Senior Night over Staley and a home game against Park Hill South to determine the conference champion. The Tigers will look to senior Sam Pond and captain Lauren Berry a senior goalkeeper to lead the way through the tournament.

The Summit Christian Eagles are the fourth seed in the Class 2, District 7 tournament taking place at Oak Grove HS. The Eagles open play at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 against fifth seeded Odessa. With a win the Eagles advance to play a semi-final game on May 17 at 5 p.m. The title game is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 19.

The St. Michael’s Guardians make the trip over to Pembroke Hill in Kansas City for the Class 3 District 7 tourney. The Guardians enter as the fourth seed and open play at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14 against Raytown South. With a win the Guardians advance to play a semi-final round game at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17. The title game is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 19.

Brian White, first year head coach of the Guardians, feels the district is “a very challenging bracket, pretty top heavy with the top four seeds.” White adds, “Anyone can beat anyone.” Regarding the Guardians White says “had a pretty challenging season, battling through things.” To have success this week the Guardians will lean on leading goal scorer Victoria Swingle and Goalkeeper Casey Cooper.
