The St. Michael’s Guardians opened district play on Tuesday, Oct. 22 when they swept the Ruskin Eagles in three sets. The Guardians entered post-season play at 21-3 and as the number two seed in the Class 4, District 7 tournament. The nine-team event is being played at Belton High School. Up next for the Guardians is a semifinal match against number three seed Notre Dame De Sion who beat Raytown in three sets. With a win the Guardians advance to the district title match set for Tuesday, Oct. 29th at 5:30 p.m.
The Summit Christian Eagles entered post-season play at 17-11-1. The Eagles are the number three seeded team in the Class 3, District 13 tournament being played at Harrisonville High School. The six-team event began on Tuesday Oct. 22 with a pair of matches. The Eagles moved past KC Southeast in three straight sets. Up next for the Eagles is a semifinal round match against Nevada the number two seed who had a bye in the opening round. If the Eagles advance to the title match it’s set to be played on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. The Eagles opponent would be either host Harrisonville or Pleasant Hill.
Lee’s Summit West is the site of the Class 5, District 7 tournament. The nine-team event began on Tuesday, Oct. 22 with Joplin playing Neosho. The winner was Joplin and now they advance to play top seed and tourney host LS West in a quarterfinal round match. The Titans are 18-10 as they open post-season play. Lee’s Summit Tigers are the number seven seed and open up against number two seed Truman in a quarterfinal match. The Tigers enter the post-season at 5-15. Lee’s Summit North Broncos are the number six seed and will meet number three seed Ray-Pec in a quarterfinal round match. The Broncos are 8-27 on the season.
The Class 5, District 7 tourney continues at LS West with the semifinal matches on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 3 and at 4:30 p.m. The championship match is set for Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. All matches take place inside the Titans Fieldhouse.
