Lee’s Summit City Councilwoman Hillary Shields became one of the first 180 Missourians to win the state’s COVID-19 vaccine lottery this week.
MO VIP is Missouri’s vaccine incentive program – rewarding those who have chosen or will choose to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. Started in July, the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services partnered with the Missouri Lottery to draw 180 winners in five randomized drawings who will win either $10,000 cash or $10,000 towards an education savings account. In total, the state will award 900 individuals throughout the incentive program.
Along with Shields, three other Lee’s Summit residents were winners for a total of 16 winners in Missouri District 5.
“Getting my shot – and getting to spend time with friends and family again – felt like a win already,” said Shields. “But I’ll take the $10,000, too!”
She reminds everyone, “There are four more drawings still to come – get your vaccine and enter today!”
