Hope House, a domestic violence agency in Eastern Jackson County, Missouri, has partnered with local boxing nonprofit, KC Golden Gloves to host the second annual In Your Corner for Hope amateur boxing fundraiser.

The event was held last year in collaboration with Christy Martin, former professional boxer and domestic violence survivor, and aims to raise awareness and empower those who have survived difficult challenges.

“We are excited to host this event once again,” said MaryAnne Metheny, Hope House CEO. “Last year’s event was so powerful, and we are looking forward to a great time at this year’s In Your Corner for Hope.”

“KC Golden Gloves is proud to partner with Hope House and Christy Martin to promote our shared goal of supporting individuals affected by domestic violence,” Chris Walden, President of KC Golden Gloves says. “Amateur boxing teaches discipline, respect, and physical wellness while giving athletes an avenue to develop courage and self-respect. As Christy has shown, these characteristics are important in preventing and dealing with domestic violence.”

The event will be held March 2nd at the Uptown Theater in Downtown Kansas City, and will begin with a VIP Meet & Greet reception, sponsored by Empower. Doors will open at 6:00 PM with the first bout beginning at 7:00 PM. Attendees will get the opportunity to purchase 50/50 raffle tickets while watching a night of amateur boxing.

Hope House, KC Golden Gloves, and Christy Martin’s nonprofit, Christy’s Champs, have a shared mission to educate and empower those who have been in a tough situation, such as domestic violence, abuse, bullying and sexual assault, and provide them with resources to become more confident, healthier, and ultimately provide them with the tools to overcome any obstacle or barrier placed before them. Through collaborative efforts, Hope House, KC Golden Gloves, and Christy’s Champs empower those they serve and build stronger, healthier communities for all.
