Travis Allen Kanies, 27, of Lee’s Summit, was born, October 16, 1990, in Independence, the son of Robert Kanies and Renea Matthes Mitra. He departed this life, Sunday, April 1, 2018, at his home in Lee’s Summit, MO.

He was a 2009 Lee’s Summit High School graduate and a 2013 University of Central Missouri graduate.

Travis was employed as a supervisor for A. Zerega’s Sons, Inc. in Lee’s Summit. He had also worked as a parking attendant for the Kansas City Royals for several years.

Travis was a huge fan of the Royals as well as the Chiefs. He loved Nascar and Indy car racing, especially going to the Indy 500 with family and friends. He loved listening to music, hanging out with friends and good barbeque.

Travis was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jerry Kanies, maternal great-grandfather, Walter Matthes, maternal great-grandparents Perry and Leona Riddle.

He is survived by his father Bobby Kanies and Simone Fort, of Lee’s Summit; his mother Renea Matthes Mitra and Raj Mitra of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; sister Teri Kanies of Lee’s Summit; maternal grandparents, Allen and Sharon Matthes of Pleasant Hill; paternal grandmother, Pat Kanies of Pleasant Hill; maternal great grandmother, Adabel Matthes of Harrisonville; his girlfriend Anya Bowers of Lee’s Summit; other relatives and a host of many friends.

Cremation has been accorded.

A Celebration of Travis’s Life was held at Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the funeral home. Reverend Ralph Sytkowski officiated. Inurnment followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
