Dr. Eric Flack, Lee’s Summit R-7 School District executive director of curriculum, was recently selected to receive Webster University’s William T. Kemper Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Flack has served as a part-time adjunct professor at the university since 2003.

The award recognizes two full-time and two-part-time faculty members at Webster University. Award recipients are nominated and supported by students and colleagues and selected by a committee of their peers in recognition of outstanding teaching. The four 2018 award winners are being honored at the university’s annual commencement dinner.

Dr. Flack has worked for the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District for 22 years, beginning his career as middle-school social studies teacher. He has served as a district-level administrator for 19 years, and his previous administrative positions have included director of instructional technology and director of professional development.

At Webster University, Dr. Flack has taught a mix of face-to-face, blended and online courses. Over the past 15 years, he has taught more than 100 courses and over 1,400 students. Courses taught have included behavioral management; technology and teaching; technology, ethics and society; instructional design; business communications and technology; multimedia design for innovative learning; curriculum design; applied research; seminars in social sciences: brain-compatible learning; curriculum and creativity; literacies and technology; psychology of early adolescence; technology and thinking; and visual communications.
