Recognized program is also significantly reducing tuition for next year

The Lee’s Summit R-7 Before- and After-School Services (BASS) program was recognized by the Missouri AfterSchool Network at a state-wide conference, held March 2-3 in Lake Ozark.

Honorees included Dr. Emily Miller, R-assistant superintendent of special services, recognized as the organization’s Outstanding Administrator; BASS 3LYNX middle and high school program, named the March Program of the Month; and Sunset Valley Elementary Kids Country and Lee’s Summit Elementary Kids Country, tied for second place in the state Afterschool Works! video contest.

Dr. Miller was among several Missouri school district administrators honored at the conference. “Having a supportive administration can really make or break an afterschool program,” said a spokesperson for the AfterSchool Network. “These administrators have shown exceptional support for the program and the professionals in their school district, and really understand the value that afterschool programs bring to their community.”

Other Lee’s Summit R-7 BASS staff members recognized at the event included Nicole Bruce, Katie Hertzog, Taryn Wirsig, Judith Witte, Athena Wolfe and Sarah Zubeck, five years of service; Rachel Martino and Christy Weber, 10 years; Kristi Fate and Patti Ray, 15 years; and Nancy McCutcheon and Christy Weber, retiring employees.

BASS is currently enrolling for 2018-2019 and will be implementing a new rate and status structure. The new rate and status structure will allow BASS to provide affordable access to quality child care for more families.
