Musicians and entertainers will descend upon Lee’s Summit June 9 for a shot at thousands of dollars in scholarships. And from there – if past winners are any indication – the sky is the limit.

Lee’s Summit CARES Presents: Got Talent – now in its eighth season – will again attract the best and brightest from all over the region, all vying for a share of $6,000 in scholarship prizes. The show will be held on June 9 at 7PM at the Lee’s Summit High School Performing Arts Center.

Got Talent finalists will showcase a variety of talents, including vocalists, hip-hop dancers, instrumentalists, tap dancers, a hula hoop artist, a magician, a ballerina and a seven-piece band.

The finalists include: Cooper Carr, Alexis Swope, Harrison Bresheers, Charity Hartman, Ryann Elliff, Reese Minter & Josh Luke, Dane Lackey, Kennedy Mitchell, Lauren Howard, Lauren Schwepker & Alec Bridges, Brea Hurst, Elaine Watson, Elizobette Cobler, Josephine Sibert, Kennedy Newell, Lucy Hammontree, Madison Grant, Allison Beech, Mia Sparks, Paige Jones, Ziaira Griffin and Simeon Prusia, all of Lee’s Summit; Alexa Boyd and Jordin MacKenzie, Leawood; Jaxie Smith, Shawnee; Neena Shankar, Overland Park; and Preston Stein, Olathe.

“Got Talent is a unique competition that celebrates the incredible diversity of talent within our Kansas City area youth,” Lee’s Summit CARES Executive Director Rachel Segobia said. “The show encourages young performers to pursue their passion in an affirming and supportive environment. Audience members are blown away year after year by the outstanding quality of talent on display.”

Performers will be joined on stage by three guest judges –all Lee’s Summit alumni – who will determine the Season 8 winners of Got Talent.

Returning as guest judge for the eighth year in a row is Matt Lewis, best known for his uncanny re-creations of Elvis Presley and is the Executive Producer of SimonWill Entertainment in Las Vegas; Christina Burton is a dancer and choreographer for numerous regional theaters in the KC Metro area. In addition to teaching for the Kansas City Ballet School, Christina is also an Adjunct Professor of Dance at UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance; Steve Serrano is the head of programming and the host of Mix 93.3’s interactive evening show and serves as the entertainment/music correspondent for Better KC on KCTV5.
