The Lee’s Summit Lions Club met at the Neighborhood Cafe on June 12th 2018, at that meeting a program was presented to the Club by the chairman for Saving Sight from District M5, Lion Allen Lohsanvt from the Wellington Lions Club. Lion Allen reported that the old Missouri Lions Research Foundation was reorganized and split into two 501c3 organizations. Saving Sight, which specializes in Cornea Transplants.

The other, Kids Sight which specializes in screening for vision problems in kids. Out of the 114 counties in the state of Missouri, they cover 106 counties. Last year they were 58,216 kids screened by both professional screening and volunteers. In that same time frame our District M5 screened 7,457 and Lee’s Summit screened 1,190 children at 17 different locations.

Approximately 39 percent of the children screened were considered high risk and referred to doctors.
