Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation announces the advancement of Brooke Chestnut as the Superintendent of Park Operations. Chestnut has worked for LSPR for three years, and served as the Park Maintenance Supervisor prior to her promotion.

“I believe that in this new role I will be able to continue to ensure that our parks system moves forward and that we continue to provide safe, clean, and most importantly, fun parks,” Chestnut said. “This new role plays to my strengths as a detail oriented, passionate leader.”

The hiring process took approximately four months, and many candidates applied from across the nation. However, Chestnut’s experience in LSPR and her education were unmatched. She holds her Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Conservation and Management from Missouri Western State University, and is a certified Playground Safety Inspector and an ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) certified Arborist and Utility Specialist. She also is a graduate of the NRPA Maintenance Management School.

“Brooke is very familiar with the position and during the interim process she took on many of the duties of the superintendent while we completed our hiring process,” Joe Snook, LSPR Administrator, said. “This was a critical position to fill, and I’m confident Brooke will make us a better organization. We are fortunate to have such talented people on our staff.”

Chestnut began her new position May 24. “I am passionate about parks, and feel I can ensure our team continues to better the parks system for our community,” she said.
