“I love Camp Barnabas because it is the closest thing to Heaven I feel like I will get in this life,” says Rachel. “I have never been in a more wholesome, fun, and accepting community in my life.”

This isn’t Rachel’s first summer at Barnabas. She started coming to camp early on, along with her brother who has a disability. After two years attending as a sibling camper, she jumped at the opportunity to serve. This summer marks her third year giving back.

“Being able to serve the Lord at the same time my twin brother Josh, who happens to have Autism, gets to do all the activities his friends can do, is the best feeling ever,” says Rachel.

Collin is serving for the first time this year and has jumped headfirst into his role as one of the cabin staff.

“Camp provides opportunities to love and give attention to people who never get it. It also lets us have the opportunity to exercise our faith and serve,” says Collin.

Collin graduated from Lee’s Summit North High School in 2015. He is currently attending Spurgeon College in Kansas City and majoring in Christian studies. Rachel graduated from O’Hara High School in 2016. She is attending Missouri State University pursuing a degree in marketing and graphic design.

“I’m most excited about the lifelong friends and the partners in ministry I will make this summer,” says Collin. “Also getting to see God and His love in a new way.”

Based in Southwest Missouri, Camp Barnabas is a non-profit charitable organization that includes two locations dedicated to providing life-changing experiences to individuals with special needs and chronic illnesses as well as their siblings. Each summer Barnabas serves approximately 2,000 campers and welcomes 2,400 missionaries. For more information about Camp Barnabas, visit www.CampBarnabas.org.
