The 2018 Missouri Municipal League – West Gate Region Civic Leadership Awards were presented Thursday, July 26, 2018, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Independence.

The awards are based on the recipients’ community involvement in towns from Weston to Belton, and Parkville to Oak Grove. Mark Alford, Fox4-KC, presided as Master of Ceremonies as twenty-three Missouri municipalities awarded their residents for having served their communities in myriad ways.

Dave Thurman, local realtor with Reece Nichols-Lee’s Summit and Raytown resident is the recipient from Raytown;

Rod Handley, former senior vice-president, chief operating officer & CFO of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is the recipient from Lee’s Summit;

Gunter Stein, is the recipient from Lake Winnebago; and Officer Tom Wagstaff, Independence Police Officer, is the recipient from Independence.
