The City of Lee’s Summit will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, August 10 at 9 a.m. to celebrate the completion of two new hangars housing 28 units at the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport. The public may park at the terminal building at 2751 NE Douglas St. and a shuttle will be provided to transport guests to the event.

The extension of north/south runway 18-36 from 4,014 feet to 5,501 feet required the relocation of taxiway alpha, which resulted in the removal of seven existing hangars. Construction on the new

T-hangars in the northwest quadrant of the airport began in February of this year. All 28 units have already been leased and there is currently a waiting list.

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) served as the engineering consultant on the project. B. Dean Construction of Lee’s Summit was responsible for the project’s construction.

The construction of the new T-hangars represents a continued investment in the airport by the City of Lee’s Summit. The total cost of the project was $2.6 million.
