Shirley Mae Green was born February 24, 1938 in Independence, Missouri. To Charles Myers and Geneva (Brunson) Myers. She passed away August 7, 2018 at her home in Flemington, Missouri following a struggle with cancer.

She started her first job at Petes Café in Osceola, Missouri at the age of 12. Shirley would work during her lunch break and after school. She would often live with them while working there, they became like a second set of parents. It was at Petes that she met Bill Green. She turned him down several times before accepting a date. Shirley and Bill enjoyed gigging for frogs on the River. They were united in marriage in Kansas City, Missouri in 1954. She was employed as a layout operator at AT&T in Lee’s Summit, Missouri for 37 years.

Shirley would walk down to the RLDS stone church in Independence, Missouri at 3 years old. After Sunday School she would walk back home. She was a member of the RLDS Church until they joined the First Christian Church.

She was as dedicated to Bill as he was to her. When Bill Worked on a project, Shirley was always right by his side. They enjoyed hunting, fishing and went about everywhere together, except shopping. Bill would often stay home and then worry when Grandma and mom would come home late. She was an amazing cook, a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Shirley was a good judge of character, generous, caring, often worrying about others and found strength in being there for others when they needed it most. She loved being with friends and family. She was a gracious host. Grandma usually knew what needed to be done and didn’t hesitate to do it. Even if it was hard. She loved western movies, mushroom hunting, decorating, long walks in the woods with her walking stick and warm weather.
