Each summer, Raytown Hunger Warriors gather as the Raytown Summer Lunch Ministry, Monday through Friday, for six weeks at the Raytown Christian Church to pack and deliver lunches, daily, to about 600 Raytown C2 School District children who are currently on reduced price lunches through the school year.

Thanks to many donors, it takes dozens of volunteers to pre-pack chips, cookies, and veggies, then assemble and pack the individual lunches, then deliver then to multiple locations throughout the Raytown school district.

The community truly comes together in this interfaith and intergenerational effort from mid-July at the end of summer school and into August, when school resumes.

On July 24, Raytown Wal-Mart Store Manager, Chad McRoy, visited with program leads Carol Frevert and Mary Oyler, along with their team of energized and selfless volunteers, to thank them for their work as well as present a most generous donation to support the program. This donation is already earmarked as seed money for the 2019 Summer Lunch Ministry.
