Letter to the editor

A lot of people talk about rebuilding our country’s infrastructure. Talk talk talk and study study study.

One of the oldest & most useful infrastructures that this country built were the railroads to get us to the west, the Northwest and the Southwest!

They were built for passengers and freight. Today, are still used mostly heavy freight.

So today maybe it’s time for us to ask the railroads to look at building a new lightrail system to carry passengers and light freight like mail and packages.

Someday we’re going to have to address the problem of traffic of cars and trucks on our roads and bridges.

We cannot afford to build and maintain any more of these roads and bridges.

When this country built the interstate it was for cars and defense vehicles.

This country and local governments have a problem with 53 foot trailers and piggyback trailers on our older roads. Local cities, counties and states had nothing to do with the 53 foot trailers. All this came out of Washington DC!

One reason we can not keep up our roads is we keep wanting to make tax cuts for the rich. This is reducing the quality of the country we have.
