Thanks to another home win this past Tuesday, the Kansas City Mavericks are now off to the best start in franchise history at 9-1-1. Every team member is happy to be a part of it, but one player is happier than the rest.

Defenseman Willie Raskob is a second year pro who spent his rookie season with the Quad City Mallards. As many ECHL followers know the Mallards ceased operations at the end of the 2017-18 season. Willie is happy to have found a new home and continue to play the game he loves.

Rask, as his new teammates call him, is a big Minnesota Vikings fan. The main reason is the Vikings play games in his native state but also they give him a chance to watch games that mean something. Willie hails from Hastings, Minnesota where his mom, dad along with a brother and sister root him on from home.

The right-hander’s favorite hockey memory so far happened while he played for Minnesota-Duluth. His senior year he played in and lost the 2017 National championship game. Rask’s favorite website to visit is Netflix where he enjoys watching his favorite shows. If not in pro hockey today Willie feels he would be at home in Minnesota putting his finance degree to good use.

Rask enjoys both Chinese and sushi among his favorite dishes. The 23 year old’s favorite sports movie is “Remember the Titans.” Following his playing days Willie wishes to be remembered as a hard worker who helped his team and very friendly.

Check out Rask and the rest of his teammates when the Mavericks return from a Thanksgiving break on Friday, Nov. 23 to host the Wichita Thunder. The fun begins inside the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena when the puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
