Lion’s Choice, a popular St. Louis-based sandwich shop founded by childhood friends in 1967, is holding its grand opening today at 4049 S. Little Blue Parkway, Independence, MO 64057 at 10 a.m. To celebrate its first Kansas City location, Lion’s Choice will give out free roast beef sandwiches and t-shirts to the first 100 people in line. The line will form outside Lion’s Choice at 10 a.m. and guests will have a roaring good time watching opening day entertainment from KC Wolf and Warpaint while they wait. Guests can also enter to win $10 gift cards by posting a photo of themselves at the opening on social media using the hashtag #RoarKC.

“We’re excited about our Independence, MO opening, and we are thrilled to bring our ridiculously good food and unmatched customer service west on I-70 to our neighbors in Kansas City,” said Mike Kupstas, CEO of Lion’s Choice. “Our guests have been asking us to expand to Kansas City for quite some time. We look forward to welcoming old fans and new friends to our Kansas City restaurants.”

This location uses a new Lion’s Choice prototype designed with a modern guest experience in mind including a saucing station that allows customization of sandwiches with a variety of sauces and accompaniments as well as an area for online order pickups. As the Independence restaurant is one of the first locations to serve breakfast, the space also features a display for breakfast pastries and grab and go items.

Lion’s Choice is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with breakfast served from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. and lunch served from 10 a.m. until close.

Lion’s Choice was founded in 1967 by a group of friends who wanted to open a quick serve restaurant with fresh, high-quality sandwiches that offered an alternative to the burger chains. They wanted to give everyone the lion’s choice with high-quality top round beef, slow-roasted every day in store and great customer service. The first store opened in Ballwin, Missouri and has since grown to over 28 locations in the greater St. Louis area.
