Lee’s Summit R-7 School District middle schools recently recognized their September and October Students of the Month. Students of the Month are recognized based on outstanding citizenship, conduct, attitude and school involvement.

September Students of the Month from Bernard Campbell Middle School are Daniel Mack and Ellie Stafford. At BCMS, Daniel is in band, drumline, concert choir and serves on the yearbook committee. Outside of school, Daniel is a youth musician at Macedonia Baptist Church and plays basketball. Ellie is involved in Student Council and volleyball at BCMS, and she is also a member of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council. Outside BCMS, Ellie is involved in soccer, volleyball, ski clubs and sailing. Both Daniel and Ellie are on the Principal’s Honor Roll.

October Students of the Month from BCMS are Mia Gatti and Nick Ward. Mia is involved in Student Council, cross country, tennis club and volleyball at school, where she is also the track manager. Mia is also on both the Principal’s Honor Roll and the Citizenship Honor Roll, and she is a recipient of the Super Student Award. Nick received the Optimist Award in both 7th and 8th grades, and he enjoys going to SkyZone on weekends.

September Students of the Month from Pleasant Lea Middle School are Quentin Ford and Corina Sisk. At school, Quentin is involved in Tiger Orchestra and choir, and he also received both the Courage Award and 3rd place in the spelling bee. Outside of PLMS, Quentin is involved in track, basketball, bowling, and the Special Olympics. At PLMS, Corina is involved in cross country, and she served on the tech crew for the musical. Outside of school, Corina plays soccer and serves by caring for younger children at church. Both Quentin and Corina have made the Principal’s Honor Roll.
October Students of the Month from PLMS are Gunnar True and Khalia Woods. Gunnar is the cross country captain and the recipient of the “Outstanding Courtesy” award. Outside of school, Gunnar enjoys fishing, hunting, soccer, golf and Fortnite. Khalia is involved with robotics, the musical, choir and Club 121. Outside of PLMS, Khalia has earned first and second place in basketball tournaments. Both Khalia and Gunnar have made the Principal’s Honor Roll.

September Students of the Month from Summit Lakes Middle School are Addison Foote and Ashton Norman. Addison has acted in musicals, and she’s involved in cross country and reading club at school. Outside of SLMS, Addison plays soccer and is involved with the Summit Theater Group, the Kantorei KC Honor Choir and Journey Church International Youth Group. Ashton was selected as the February champ for the character trait of cooperation. Both Addison and Ashton have made the Principal’s Honor Roll.

October Students of the Month from SLMS are Bashirah Griffin-Bey and Quin Martin. At school, Bashirah participates in cross country and the musical. She is also the school mascot, and she’s received awards for respect and courtesy. Outside of SLMS, Bashirah is involved with Camp Kesem at University of Kansas and is a member of the Moorish Science Temple of America. At SLMS, Quin has been involved in cross country, wrestling and student council. He currently plays football and participates in jazz band, basketball, wrestling and track. Outside of school, Quin plays baseball. Both Bashirah and Quin have made the Principal’s Honor Roll.
