The Lee’s Summit Tigers wrestling team opened Suburban Red Conference play on Tuesday by hosting the St. Joseph Central Indians. The match served as the Tigers’ home opener for the 2018-19 season and ended well with the Tigers earning a 45-34 win.

The evening started off well for the Tigers as Nathan Wishne won the 106 pound match. After a couple of opens in the next couple of weight classes Ora Scott in the 126 pound class hit the mat. Scott easily won his match 9-2. Brennon Moore won the 138 pound match but then the visiting Indians went on a roll winning the next three (145,152 and 160) all by a pin.

Sean O’Conner got the Tigers back on track with a pin in his match at the 170 pound class. Both Michael Garrozzo and Carter Pikulski won the next two matches for the Tigers. Andy Hardin was pinned by an Indian at the 220 weight class before an open at the heavyweight class for Tigers’ Zach Cochran.

The home match started the 55th season of wrestling for Lee’s Summit High inside the Fieldhouse. The Tigers schedule before the holiday break will keep them busy. Up next is a non-conference match against Sedalia Smith Cotton. Next week the Tigers venture north to Liberty North for a three-team dual on Tuesday night.
