Local nonprofit Coldwater is serving yet another hot, healthy meal to the families that come by for assistance on December 15th.

Coldwater is a faith-based nonprofit organization serving the Lee’s Summit area. Their mission is to build friendships that foster hope in the community while providing food and clothing for those in need.

The agency received a $3,000 grant from the Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation in 2018 to support Friends Days across the year. This funding has helped Coldwater provide food for their Friends Day Food Pantry and Clothes Closet program. Volunteers will prepare and serve a nutritional lunch at the Pantry and Closet. These meals consist of a protein, vegetables, and fruit. Children receive milk with their meals. The next scheduled event is on the third Saturday of December from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will be held at 501 NE Missouri Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO, 64086

Coldwater provides groceries for 80-200 client families that are struggling to meet their basic food needs. Two Saturdays a month families are able to come and receive two or three bags of groceries to meet their food necessities as well as receive clothes from the Closet. No matter the circumstances, people in need are welcomed with friendly smiles and support to help them overcome their difficult times.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, the Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation provides health-focused grants to nonprofits in the Lee’s Summit community. For more info and access to the application, visit www.HealthyLeesSummit.org.
