Kansas City Mavericks fans are always happy to see their favorite players each season and one player this year is pretty happy to see the fans too. Rookie forward Zack Fischer is enjoying his initial campaign as a hockey pro and playing in front of the Orange Army the name given to the Mavericks rabid fan base.
Fisch, as his new teammates call him, is taking in everything the KC area offers including a Kansas City Chiefs football game. Zack is quick to point out that his favorite pro sports team is the KC Chiefs thanks to his first NFL experience which took place this past season on Sunday, Nov. 11. The Chiefs hosted the Arizona Cardinals that day and a number of Mavericks players were in attendance. The Mavs players saw the Chiefs win 26-14 that afternoon.
The right-handed Fischer hails from Lloydminster, Alberta Canada, where his whole family from mom and dad on down watch every game on ECHL.TV. Zack’s favorite hockey memory so far was the 2017 NHL entry draft when Fischer was selected in the fifth round by the Calgary Flames. Fischer described the experience “Was a surreal feeling to hear my name called that night.”
Zack’s favorite website to visit is goat.com. That’s right goat.com a website where Fischer can embrace his love of shoes. If not in pro hockey today Zack feels he would still be in school close to his home. Fischer’s favorite foods include a big steak. He also claims to enjoy a greasy cheeseburger from time to time.
Zack’s favorite sports movie is “Miracle” which is true for a number of his teammates as well. Fischer when his career ends wishes to be remembered as a hard working guy.
Check out Fisch and his teammates when the Mavericks return to home ice for one last time in 2018 on Monday, December 31st. The Mavericks host rival Wichita Thunder with a New Year’s Eve celebration planned for fans. The fun begins inside the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena when the puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
