Sunday will see the city of Memphis roll out the red carpet for their Auto Zone Liberty Bowl guests in town while both teams put finishing touches on their game preparations. Plenty to see and do around town today but first some business will be taken care of.

The day begins with a pair of press conferences, the final ones before kickoff on Monday. Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy will address the media first, then Mizzou head coach Barry Odom. Later in the day during the afternoon Missouri will hold a closed practice at the Liberty Bowl Stadium site of Monday’s game. Oklahoma State will practice in the early evening at an area school in Memphis.

With the teams preoccupied by game planning and last minute instructions fans will be entertained by a number of Auto Zone Liberty Bowl related events. The first can’t miss event is at 3:00 p.m. when the annual Beale Street parade is held downtown. That will be followed at 4:30 p.m. with the “Bash on Beale Pep Rally.” Bands, cheerleaders and mascots will help everyone get into the mood of a bowl game weekend.

The fun will linger into the evening hours with a president’s gala planned for the Peabody Hotel. Each team’s alumni association will hold evening events as well. The MU Alumni association is planning a fun get together Sunday evening at a venue on Beale Street.

The bright lights of a bowl weekend in the city of Memphis are on and when Sunday’s events are over it’s time for everyone to get prepared for what’s next. That’s game day for the 2018 Auto Zone Liberty Bowl, more on that tomorrow.
