Alyssa Pemberton and Clayton Medlin sign letters of intent

Four Summit Christian Academy seniors – representing a variety of sports – recently signed letters of intent to compete at the collegiate level. Alyssa Pemberton, a state level golfer and soccer player as well as a respected track & field athlete and basketball player, set her sights on a new goal as part of the Kansas State University rowing team.

Two members of the Eagles’ baseball pitching line-up were also among those committing to compete at the next level. Clayton Medlin, who has been with the team since their 2016 2nd place finish in the Class 3 state championship, signed with Rockhurst University in Kansas City. Eli Rash will travel north to play for Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.

Finally, Preston Parks will also stay local as he becomes the third SCA alum in as many years to join the Avila University Track & Field team.

SCA athletes have begun to develop a reputation within the world of college athletics. Coaches continue to recognize them not only for their athletic ability, but also their excellence in the classroom and the integrity and strong character these young people bring to their college programs.

“This will be no different with these four recent signings,” says SCA Athletic Director Lance Quessenberry. “Even more, these four signings continue to show the diversity of the SCA athletic program. Rash and Medlin will have the opportunity to continue their love for baseball – a sport in which they have competed their entire lives. Parks will be another great addition to Avila Track & Field as we have seen that program continue to target our athletes. Pemberton’s signing to the K-State rowing program shows the advantage of competing in multiple sports and being willing to take on new challenges.”
