On Thursday, January 31st, Summit Technology Academy hosted the second annual “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day” for 7th grade girls from Pleasant Lea Middle School, Bernard Campbell Middle School and Summit Lakes Middle School. More than 90 girls attended the event and learned about high school engineering classes from female high school students.

Students also interacted with female engineers from Black & Veatch, Burns & McDonnell, the City of Lee’s Summit, Honeywell and Kiewit. Through teamwork and innovation, the girls participated in a design challenge to create a moon lander that would safely land their astronauts on the moon. The girls left motivated and excited for the many possibilities ahead of them.
