The 2019 Missouri Girls Class 2 State Swimming meet saw the west side of the state finish the season on a good note. The two-day event on Feb. 14 and 15 saw many Kansas City area entries return home with state medals or championships.

An example was the results of Class 2 girls diving where all top four finishers came from the KC area and one school had half of them. Lee’s Summit North is that school where Annie McCord finished second place and Annica Valmassei in fourth place. As a team Lee’s Summit North finished 20th overall with 32 points.

Lee’s Summit West lady Titans finished 12th overall with 68 points. The team finished seventh in the 200 free relay but their time of 1:40:44 was good enough for a new school record. The 200 medley relay finished with an All State – Honorable mention for the work at the state meet held at the City of St. Peter’s Rec Plex. LS West Senior Molly Harmon finished fifth in the 100 breast stroke. Harmon also competed in the 200 yard IM where she finished five spots ahead of Lee’s Summit’s Oivia Stikeleather. Fellow Titan Payton Easley, a sophomore, finished eighth in the 50 yard freestyle. Payton Easley followed that up with a 10th place finish in the 100 yard freestyle.

Lee’s Summit Tigers also had a strong contingent head to the state meet where six qualifiers made it.

Delaney and Mallory Butler, Stephanie Janczewski, Olivia Stikeleather, Aiden Mellody and Sara Fletcher. Lee’s Summit finished 29th.

While some individuals returned with medals all the area teams came home with memories of successful moments at the state meet.
