Lee’s Summit vs Lee’s Summit North (Boys)
Tuesday night saw a pair of boys semi-final games be played as the Class 5, District 13 tournament continued at Lee’s Summit North HS. First tip off of the night saw rivals Lee’s Summit Tigers and host Lee’s Summit North Broncos play for the right to advance to Friday’s final.

The third-seeded Tigers jumped on the scoreboard first and held a lead for the first six minutes of the game. The Broncos would take their first lead at 12-11 and enjoy a first quarter lead of 19-16. The Broncos would increase that lead throughout the second quarter as they went into the half time locker room up 36-22. The second half saw the Broncos withstand a Tigers rally as the second-seeded Broncos win 65-51 to advance to Friday’s championship game. The loss for the Tigers ended their season at 9-16.

The Broncos saw four players finish in double figures led by Javaunte Hawkins 18 points. Hawkins back court mate Mikel Henderson finished with 16, Elijah Smith followed with 11 and off the bench Tommy Erwin had 10. The win gives the Broncos a 23-3 record as they enter the District Championship game on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Rockhurst vs Ruskin (Boys)
Top-seeded Rockhurst finally took to the court in the second game of the night against the Ruskin Eagles. Just 13 seconds into the game Rockhurst guard Glen McClintock hit a three and the Hawklets were off and running. The Eagles would not go away however as they kept the game close the entire first half. After one quarter the Hawklets led by three 17-14, then at the half by nine 27-18.

The second half saw balanced scoring from the Hawklets as they steadily increased their lead over the fifth-seeded Eagles. Rockhurst went up by 13 after the third quarter and that’s how much they win by in a 62-49 final. The Eagles were led by Kaluan Baker’s 21 points and they finish the year at 10-17. For Rockhurst they improve to 21-3 and advance to play Lee’s Summit North in the District Championship game set for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
