A big congratulations to Lee’s Summit West Robotic Team 1986 Titanium. They are the FIRST Robotics FTC Missouri State champions. FTC stands for FIRST Tech Challenge and is one of four programs.

“This team is mostly freshmen and sophomores with a few older students leading and serving as mentors. We are very proud of the hard work they put into the robot and the practice time that led to their success,” Nancy Spatz, Team Coach said.

They recently competed with 47 other teams divided into two divisions in Rolla Missouri. They were the top of their division and selected #6547 the Cobalt Colts from Leawood, KS and #8461 Elementary My Dear Botson from Camdenton, MO to be on their alliance. They went on to win their division and advance to the finals.

In the finals they faced the Astromechs from Kansas City, the Rolla Patriots from Rolla and Team Chargers from Olathe. While Titanium and their alliance won the first match in the finals, the other alliance won the second match and forced a third match. Titanium remained strong and won the last match.

The mission of FIRST® is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
